Ingredients/Components

  • soy sauce - 2 tsp
  • salt and pepper - 1 item
  • onion, chopped - 1 item
  • slivered almonds - 1/2 c
  • dash of Tabasco - 1 item
  • fresh mushrooms, sliced - 1 lb
  • cans cream of mushroom soup - 2 item
  • can water chestnuts, sliced - 1 item
  • frozen French-style green beans, thawed - 3 pkg

How to make green bean casserole:

Saute mushrooms and onion in 1/2 cup butter. Add soup, Tabasco, soy sauce, salt and pepper. Stir and simmer. Cook beans; drain. Add to first mixture. Stir in water chestnuts. Pour into casserole and sprinkle with almonds. Bake in 375° oven for 40 minutes or until top bubbles.

Although I use fresh vegetables in most of my cooking, frozen works much better in this recipe.
