Greek spinach pie
Ingredients/Components
- eggs - 5 item
- pkg - 2 oz
- milk - 1/2 c
- butter, melted - 1/3 c
- ground nutmeg - 1/2 tsp
- pepper - 1/2 tsp
- chopped onion
- olive oil - 2 Tbsp
- fresh parsley - 1/4 c
- Feta cheese, crumbled - 1 lb
- fresh dill or 1 1/2 tsp - 2 Tbsp
How to make greek spinach pie:
Filling: In medium saucepan, cook onion, parsley, nutmeg and pepper in hot oil. Cover over low heat. When onion is tender, stir in dill and set aside. In medium bowl, combine eggs and milk; beat with mixer until smooth. Add onion mixture, spinach and Feta.Brush bottom of 3-quart rectangular baking dish with some of melted butter. Unfold phyllo sheets; cut to fit baking dish. (To prevent drying, keep dough covered with plastic wrap.) Place one phyllo sheet in the bottom of the dish. Brush with butter. Repeat with 9 to 11 more sheets of phyllo and butter. Spread spinach mixture over layers. Layer remaining sheets of phyllo, brushing each with butter. If desired, score top layer with sharp knife into 9 rectangles. Bake at 375° for 30 minutes, until golden. Let stand for 10 minutes.
