Ingredients/Components
- cinnamon - 1 tsp
- flour
- chopped dates - 1 lb
- oatmeal - 2 c
- lemon rind - 1 Tbsp
- orange rind - 1 Tbsp
- sticks margarine, melted - 2 item
- brown sugar or date sugar - 1 c
How to make granola bars:
Mix oatmeal, flour, sugar and cinnamon. Add butter. Separate in 2 parts. Spread half on bottom of 9 x 13-inch greased glass baking dish.Place dates in saucepan. Add 1/2 cup water and simmer until smooth (10 minutes), stirring constantly. Add lemon and orange rinds. Spread over oatmeal. Spread remaining oatmeal over date mixture. Bake at 325° for 30 to 40 minutes. Cut while warm; makes 16 bars.
