Ingredients/Components

  • cinnamon - 1 tsp
  • flour
  • chopped dates - 1 lb
  • oatmeal - 2 c
  • lemon rind - 1 Tbsp
  • orange rind - 1 Tbsp
  • sticks margarine, melted - 2 item
  • brown sugar or date sugar - 1 c

How to make granola bars:

Mix oatmeal, flour, sugar and cinnamon. Add butter. Separate in 2 parts. Spread half on bottom of 9 x 13-inch greased glass baking dish.

Place dates in saucepan. Add 1/2 cup water and simmer until smooth (10 minutes), stirring constantly. Add lemon and orange rinds. Spread over oatmeal. Spread remaining oatmeal over date mixture. Bake at 325° for 30 to 40 minutes. Cut while warm; makes 16 bars.
