German potato salad



  • sugar - 3 Tbsp
  • salt
  • water - 1/2 c
  • all-purpose flour - 1 Tbsp
  • cider vinegar - 1/3 c
  • pepper - 1/4 tsp
  • celery seed - 1/2 tsp
  • instant minced onion - 2 Tbsp
  • sliced bacon - 1/2 lb
  • small red potatoes, cooked and sliced

How to make german potato salad:

Cut bacon into 1-inch pieces. Cook in skillet until crisp. Remove pieces from skillet and drain. Pour off drippings, reserving 2 tablespoons to return to skillet. Blend in sugar, onion, flour and seasonings. Gradually add water and vinegar. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly. Boil 1 minute. Add potatoes and bacon pieces. Cook over low heat, stirring occasionally 5 minutes, or until heated through. Makes 4 to 6 servings.
