German potato salad
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 tsp
- salt - 1 tsp
- egg, slightly beaten - 1 item
- pepper - 1/4 tsp
- chopped onion - 1/2 c
- cooked, diced potatoes - 5 c
- bacon - 1/2 lb
- bacon drippings - 1/3 c
- vinegar plus enough water to make 1/2 cup - 1/3 c
How to make german potato salad:
Cook bacon until crisp; crumble. Combine bacon drippings with next 5 ingredients and stir over medium heat until thickened. Add potatoes, onion and bacon; toss. Serve warm or cold. Keeps for a week refrigerated and gets better with time. Serves 6 easily.Recipe categories: Salads, Side dish, Potato.
