  • sugar
  • eggs - 4 item
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • milk - 1 2
  • flour - 3 c
  • almond extract - 1 tsp
  • baking powder
  • shortening - 1/2 c
  • powdered sugar
  • margarine - 1/2 c
  • can apricot, cherry or blueberry pie filling - 1 oz

How to make fruit swirl coffee cake:

Glaze:1 c. powdered sugar1 to 2 Tbsp. milk Beat until smooth and of desired consistency.

Heat oven to 350°. Grease jelly roll pan or 2 square 9-inch pans. Beat first 7 ingredients together in a large mixing bowl on low speed, scraping bowl constantly, until blended. Beat on high speed 3 minutes. Stir in flour. Spread 2/3 of the batter in jelly roll pan or 1/3 in each 9-inch pan. Spread pie filling over batter. Drop remaining batter by tablespoonfuls onto pie filling. Bake until light brown, 30 to 40 minutes. Drizzle with glaze while warm. Cut into bars or squares.
