Ingredients/Components

  • salt - 1 tsp
  • vegetable oil - 1/2 c
  • egg, beaten - 1 item
  • cornmeal - 3/4 c
  • lemon-pepper seasoning - 1/4 tsp
  • medium green tomatoes - 4 item

How to make fried green tomatoes:

Slice tomatoes 1/4-inch thick. Sprinkle both sides with salt and lemon-pepper. Let stand for 20 to 25 minutes. Dip each tomato slice into egg, then into cornmeal. In a large skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Fry tomatoes for 3 to 4 minutes on each side or until tender and golden brown. Drain on paper towels. Serve immediately. Yield: 6 to 8 servings.
