French onion soup
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour - 3 Tbsp
- butter - 2 Tbsp
- water - 4 c
- oil - 1 Tbsp
- dry white wine - 1/2 c
- grated cheese - 1 c
- pinch of sugar - 1 item
- onions - 1 lb
- cans beef bouillon - 2 item
- to 6 round French bread - 4 item
How to make french onion soup:
Slice onions thinly. Saute in butter and oil until clear. Stir in salt and sugar. Cook until golden brown (about 30 minutes), stirring often. Remove from heat. Stir in flour. Add beef bouillon, water and wine. Bring to a boil while stirring; simmer for 30 minutes. Salt to taste; ladle into ovenproof bowls. Top with French bread, sprinkled with Swiss cheese.
