French fried onions
Ingredients/Components
- milk - 1/2 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- vegetable oil - 1 item
- egg - 1 item
- all-purpose flour - 3/4 c
- large Spanish or Bermuda onions, cut into 1/4-inch slices and separated into rings - 3 item
How to make french fried onions:
Heat oil (1-inch) in deep fryer or Dutch oven to 375°. Beat remaining ingredients except onion rings with hand beater until smooth. Dip each onion ring into batter, allowing excess to drip into bowl. Fry a few onion rings at a time in hot oil, turning once, until golden brown, about 2 minutes; drain.
