French breakfast puffs
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/2 c
- cinnamon - 1 tsp
- milk - 1/2 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- nutmeg - 1/4 tsp
- baking powder
- egg - 1 item
- shortening - 1/4 c
- butter or margarine, melted - 6 Tbsp
- sifted all-purpose flour
How to make french breakfast puffs:
In mixer bowl, cream together the first 1/2 cup sugar, shortening and the egg. Sift together the flour, baking powder, salt and nutmeg; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beating well after each addition. Fill a 12-cup greased muffin pan 2/3 full. Bake in a 350° oven for 20 to 25 minutes. Combine remaining sugar and cinnamon. Remove muffins from oven; immediately dip muffins in melted butter or margarine, then in cinnamon-sugar mixture until coated. Serve warm.
