Five flavor pound cake
Ingredients/Components
- butter, softened - 1 c
- sugar - 3 c
- eggs - 5 item
- milk - 1 c
- vanilla extract - 1 tsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- water - 1/3 c
- almond extract - 1/2 tsp
- baking powder - 1/2 tsp
- shortening - 1/2 c
- sifted cake flour
- lemon extract - 1 tsp
- rum extract - 1 tsp
- coconut extract - 1 tsp
How to make five flavor pound cake:
Glaze:1/2 c. sugar1/3 c. water1/2 tsp. almond extract Cream butter and shortening. Gradually add sugar, beating well at medium speed with electric mixer. Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition. Combine flour, baking powder and salt; add to creamed mixture, alternately with milk, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Mix after each addition. Stir in flavorings. Pour batter into greased and floured 10-inch tube pan. Bake at 325° for 1 1/2 hours, until wooden toothpick in center comes out clean. Cool cake in pan 10 minutes. Remove from pan; cool on wire rack.Glaze: Combine sugar and water in small saucepan; bring to boil. Remove from heat. Add almond extract. Spoon over cake. Cool completely.
