Ingredients/Components

  • butter, softened - 1 c
  • sugar - 3 c
  • eggs - 5 item
  • milk - 1 c
  • vanilla extract - 1 tsp
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • water - 1/3 c
  • almond extract - 1/2 tsp
  • baking powder - 1/2 tsp
  • shortening - 1/2 c
  • sifted cake flour
  • lemon extract - 1 tsp
  • rum flavoring - 1 tsp
  • coconut flavoring - 1 tsp

How to make five flavor pound cake:

Cream butter and shortening; add sugar, beating well at medium speed. Add eggs, one at a time. Combine flour, baking powder and salt; add to creamed mixture alternating with milk. Stir in flavorings. Pour into greased and floured tube pan. Bake at 325° for 1 1/2 hours. Cool in pan 10 minutes; remove and cool on a wire rack. Spoon hot glaze over warm cake.

Glaze: Combine 1/2 cup sugar and 1/3 cup water in a small saucepan; bring to a boil. Remove from heat and add almond extract.
