- butter or margarine - 1/4 c
- water - 1 c
- Worcestershire sauce - 1 Tbsp
- grated Parmesan cheese - 1 item
- grated Mozzarella cheese - 1 item
- large onions, sliced - 2 item
- slices toasted French bread - 4 item
- consomme or beef broth - 1 c
- pinch of sugar, salt and pepper or to taste - 1 item
How to make easy french onion soup:
Melt the butter or margarine in a large saucepan. Add onions; saute for 3 to 4 minutes, until light brown. Add the consomme, water and Worcestershire sauce; bring to a boil.
