Ingredients/Components
- chopped dates
- sugar - 1 c
- water - 1 c
- chopped nuts - 1 c
- shortening - 1 c
- brown sugar - 2 c
- eggs, well beaten - 3 item
- sifted flour - 4 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- baking soda - 1/2 tsp
How to make date pinwheels:
Combine dates, sugar and water and cook over low heat until thick, about 10 minutes, then add nuts and cool.Dough: Mix shortening, sugar, eggs, flour, salt and baking soda. Roll dough out in 3 rolls and spread the date filling over. Roll like a jelly roll. Wrap in waxed paper and place in refrigerator. Chill good. Slice in 1/4-inch slices. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes at 400°.
