  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • milk - 2 Tbsp
  • chopped nuts - 1 c
  • brown sugar - 1/2 c
  • butter
  • soda - 1 tsp
  • boiling water - 1 c
  • egg - 1 item
  • shortening - 1/2 c
  • flour plain
  • dates - 1 c

How to make date cake:

Icing:4 tsp. butter2 Tbsp. milk1/2 c. brown sugar1 c. chopped nuts Cake: Mix together and bake at 325° until done.

Icing: Heat butter and milk; take off stove and add sugar and nuts. Ice the cake.
