  • soda - 1 tsp
  • chopped dates - 1 c
  • boiling water - 1 c
  • molasses - 1 c
  • cream - 1 c
  • eggs, well beaten - 2 item
  • cut up dates - 1 c
  • nut meats hickory nuts - 1 c
  • Add sugar, flour, butter and nut meats to date mixture
  • nuts hickory - 1 c

How to make date cake:

Pour water and soda over chopped dates. Add sugar, flour, butter and nut meats to date mixture. Mix well. Add eggs. Mix well.Date Frosting for Cake:1 c. sugar1 c. chopped dates1 c. nuts (hickory)1 c. cream Mix together. Boil until thick, stirring constantly.
