Ingredients/Components

  • cinnamon - 1/2 tsp
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • chopped pecans - 1/2 c
  • salt
  • flour - 2 c
  • brown sugar - 2 c
  • nutmeg - 1/2 tsp
  • soda - 1/2 tsp
  • buttermilk - 1 c
  • baking powder - 2 tsp
  • Crisco - 1/2 c
  • beaten eggs - 2 item

How to make crumb cake:

Combine flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, soda, baking powder and salt. Cut Crisco into mixture until well mixed. Take out 1/2 cup of this mixture and save. Add beaten eggs, buttermilk and vanilla. Pour into a greased pan or 2 (8-inch) cake pans. Add chopped pecans to the 1/2 cup of dry mixture and sprinkle over the top of the batter. Bake at 350° for 25 or 30 minutes. Always serve hot.
