Crumb cake

Ingredients/Components

• sugar - 1 c
• cinnamon - 1 tsp
• salt - 1/2 tsp
• nutmeg - 1 tsp
• soda - 1 tsp
• egg - 1 item
• shortening - 1/2 c
• molasses - 1 Tbsp
• cloves - 1 tsp
• sifted all-purpose flour - 2 c
• sour milk - 1 c

How to make crumb cake:

Sift together dry ingredients except soda, cut in fat until mixture comes to fine crumb consistency. Save one-half cup of this for topping. Beat egg well; add molasses, sour milk and soda and mix thoroughly with first dry mixture. Place in a greased pan. Bake 35 minutes in 350° oven.
