Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 c
- cinnamon - 1 tsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- nutmeg - 1 tsp
- soda - 1 tsp
- egg - 1 item
- shortening - 1/2 c
- molasses - 1 Tbsp
- cloves - 1 tsp
- sifted all-purpose flour - 2 c
- sour milk - 1 c
How to make crumb cake:
Sift together dry ingredients except soda, cut in fat until mixture comes to fine crumb consistency. Save one-half cup of this for topping. Beat egg well; add molasses, sour milk and soda and mix thoroughly with first dry mixture. Place in a greased pan. Bake 35 minutes in 350° oven.Recipe categories: Egg, Breads, Coffee cakes.
