Country apple cake with caramel sauce
Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- cinnamon - 2 tsp
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- packed brown sugar - 1/2 c
- butter - 1/2 c
- oil - 2 Tbsp
- egg - 1 item
- chopped walnuts - 1/2 c
- whipping cream - 1/2 c
- Pillsbury nut quick bread mix - 1 pkg
- apple pie filling from two 21 oz - 3 c
How to make country apple cake with caramel sauce:
Sauce:1/2 c. sugar1/2 c. butter1 tsp. vanilla1/2 c. packed brown sugar1/2 c. whipping cream Heat oven to 325°. Spray a 13 x 9-inch pan with nonstick spray. In a large bowl, combine oil and egg; beat well. Add bread mix, apple pie filling, cinnamon and nutmeg. Stir until mix is moistened. Stir in walnuts. Spoon into pan; spread evenly. Bake 45 to 55 minutes. Cool 30 minutes.Meanwhile, in a medium saucepan, mix sugars, butter and cream. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat; stir in vanilla.
To Serve: Cut warm cake into squares; top with warm sauce, ice cream or whipped cream, if desired.
