sugar - 1 c
flour
salt - 1/3 tsp
baking powder - 1/2 tsp
baking soda - 1 tsp
shortening - 1/2 c
milk - 1/2 c
egg - 1 item
chopped tart apples - 3 c
Cut in shortening
butter - 2 Tbsp
cinnamon - 2 tsp
chopped pecans - 3/4 c

How to make country apple cake:

Sift together sugar, flour, salt, baking powder and baking soda. Cut in shortening. Add milk, eggs and apples and blend well. Spread into a greased 9 x 13-inch baking dish.Topping:1/2 c. brown sugar2 Tbsp. butter2 tsp. flour2 tsp. cinnamon3/4 c. chopped pecans Cream all topping ingredients together and crumble over cake batter. Bake at 350° for 40 to 45 minutes. Serve with vanilla ice cream.
