Cornmeal biscuits
Ingredients/Components
- milk - 3/4 c
- salt - 3/4 tsp
- flour
- baking powder
- shortening - 1/3 c
- cornmeal - 1/2 c
How to make cornmeal biscuits:
Cut shortening into flour, 1/2 cup cornmeal, baking powder and salt until resembles crumbs. Stir in enough milk so dough cleans sides of bowl and makes a ball. Knead dough on lightly floured surface for 10 minutes. Roll to 1/2-inch thick. Cut out biscuits. Sprinkle extra cornmeal on cookie sheet. Place biscuits on cookie sheet; sprinkle more cornmeal on top. Bake at 450° for 10 to 12 minutes.Recipe categories: Breads, Rolls/biscuits, High calcium.
