  • milk - 1 c
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • flour - 1 c
  • baking powder - 3 tsp
  • egg - 1 item
  • margarine - 1/8 c
  • soft shortening - 1/4 c
  • corn meal - 1 c

How to make corn bread:

Combine meal, flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Cut in shortening. Add egg and milk; stir swiftly. Melt margarine in iron skillet. Pour batter into skillet. Bake at 425° for 20 to 25 minutes.
