- sugar - 1/4 c
- milk - 1 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour - 1 c
- baking powder - 3 tsp
- egg - 1 item
- margarine - 1/8 c
- soft shortening - 1/4 c
- corn meal - 1 c
How to make corn bread:
Combine meal, flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Cut in shortening. Add egg and milk; stir swiftly. Melt margarine in iron skillet. Pour batter into skillet. Bake at 425° for 20 to 25 minutes.Recipe categories: Breads, Quick breads, Southern u.s..
