Ingredients/Components

  • proofed sourdough batter - 2 c
  • flour
  • baking powder - 1 Tbsp
  • sugar - 1 tsp
  • soda - 1/2 tsp
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • butter or Crisco - 1/4 c
  • milk or buttermilk - 1/2 c

How to make sourdough biscuits:

Mix the dry ingredients in a bowl and cut in butter. Mix milk with batter and stir into dry ingredients. Knead on a board for about 30 seconds. Roll dough to 1/2 inch thick; cut into circles with glass or biscuit cutter. Place on greased cookie sheet. Allow to rise 30 minutes. Brush with melted butter or milk and bake at 400° for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
