Ingredients/Components
- granulated sugar - 1/4 c
- milk
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- baking powder - 4 tsp
- vegetable oil - 1/2 c
- yellow cornmeal
- large eggs, lightly beaten - 2 item
- all-purpose flour or whole wheat flour - 3/4 c
How to make corn bread:
Preheat oven to 425°. Grease a 9 x 5-inch loaf pan or an 8-inch square baking pan. In a large bowl, mix together cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.In medium bowl, mix together the eggs, milk and oil until smooth. Add milk mixture to cornmeal mixture, stirring until dry ingredients are just moistened. Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake until golden and a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean, 25 minutes. Transfer pan to wire rack to cool for 15 minutes. Cut into squares.
