Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1 tsp
  • salt - 2 tsp
  • water - 2 c
  • garlic powder - 1 tsp
  • pepper - 1/2 tsp
  • chopped onion - 2/3 c
  • ground beef - 1 lb
  • olive oil - 2 Tbsp
  • chopped parsley - 1 Tbsp
  • Mozzarella cheese - 1 lb
  • cans tomato paste - 2 item
  • lasagna - 8 oz
  • oregano leaves - 1/2 tsp

How to make classic lasagna:

In a large, heavy pan, lightly brown ground beef and onion in oil. Add tomatoes, paste, water, parsley, garlic powder, pepper and oregano. Simmer uncovered, stirring occasionally, about 30 minutes.

Meanwhile, cook lasagna as directed and drain. In a 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan, spread about 1 cup sauce, then alternate layers of lasagna, sauce, Ricotta, Mozzarella and Parmesan cheese, ending with sauce. Bake at 350° for 40 to 50 minutes until lightly browned and bubbling. Allow to stand.
