Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1/2 c
  • cinnamon - 1 item
  • milk
  • salt
  • flour
  • brown sugar - 1 item
  • butter - 3/4 c
  • egg yolks - 2 item
  • all-purpose flour - 3 c
  • nuts - 1 item
  • raisins - 1/2 c
  • warm water
  • yeast - 2 pkg
  • whole eggs - 2 item
  • yeast cake - 1 oz
  • regular size yellow cake mix - 1 item
  • citron, finely cut - 1/2 c
  • ground cardamom seed - 1/2 tsp
  • sliced candied cherries - 1/2 c

How to make christmas stollen:

Dissolve yeast in warm water. Add cake mix and flour and knead dough. Let rise until double. Roll to 1/4 inch thickness and spread with brown sugar, cinnamon and nuts. Roll as for jelly roll and cut 1/2-inch slices.

Put more butter and brown sugar in bottom of pan and place rolls on top. Bake at 350° for 15 to 20 minutes. Dough may be refrigerated up to 24 hours before baking, but be sure to let rise. Spread rolls with glaze, if desired.
