pkg - 1 oz
packed brown sugar - 1 c
salt - 1/2 tsp
chopped nuts - 1 c
butter - 1/2 c
baking soda - 1 tsp
shortening - 1/2 c
all-purpose flour

How to make chocolate chip cookies:

Stir together flour, soda and salt. In a mixer bowl, beat butter and shortening on medium speed for 30 seconds. Add sugars and beat until fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla; beat well. Add dry ingredients to beaten mixture, beating until well combined. Stir in chocolate pieces and nuts. Drop from a teaspoon 2 inches apart onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake in a 375° oven for 8 to 10 minutes or until done. Makes about 72.
