Chicken fricassee
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 2 tsp
- flour - 1/2 c
- water - 1/2 c
- paprika - 1 tsp
- chicken broth - 1 c
- bay leaf - 1 item
- chopped parsley - 1 item
- stalks celery, sliced - 2 item
- medium onions, sliced - 2 item
- noodles, cooked and drained - 1 pkg
- carrots, pared and sliced - 2 item
- stewing chicken or fryer, cut into serving pieces - 3 4
How to make chicken fricassee:
Rinse chicken pieces and pat dry. Season with salt and paprika. Place sliced vegetables and bay leaf in crock-pot. Place chicken pieces on top of vegetables. Pour in chicken broth. Cover and cook on low for 8 to 12 hours.One hour before serving, turn to high setting. Remove chicken pieces and remove the bones. Return the meat to the crock-pot. Make a smooth paste of the flour and water and stir into liquid in the crock-pot. Cover and cook until thickened. Serve over hot noodles. Sprinkle with chopped parsley. Makes 3 1/2 quarts. Makes 6 to 8 servings.
