Chicken and dumpling stew
Ingredients/Components
- milk - 3/4 c
- flour - 3 Tbsp
- butter - 1 Tbsp
- poppy seed - 1 Tbsp
- pepper - 1 2
- can chicken broth - 1 oz
- medium onion - 1 item
- ribs celery - 2 item
- chicken, cut up - 1 lb
- thyme - 1/2 tsp
- medium carrots - 2 item
- Melt butter in a Dutch oven; add chicken and vegetables
How to make chicken and dumpling stew:
Chop vegetables into chunks. Melt butter in a Dutch oven; add chicken and vegetables. Cook until chicken is lightly browned and vegetables are crisp-tender. Sprinkle with flour and spices. Cook about 2 minutes until all are coated. Gradually add broth; bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Reduce heat to low and simmer. While chicken simmers, prepare dumplings.Dumplings:1 3/4 c. biscuit mix1 Tbsp. poppy seed3/4 c. milk Combine biscuit mix and poppy seed. Using fork, stir in milk until just blended. Drop by spoonfuls onto simmering stew (should be 8 dumplings). Increase heat to high. Bring to boil; reduce to low.
