Ingredients/Components
- butter or margarine - 1/2 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- all-purpose flour - 1/2 c
- margarine - 1 item
- light cream - 2 c
- pepper - 1/4 tsp
- diced green pepper - 1/2 c
- chicken broth
- cubed cooked chicken or turkey - 2 c
- jar pimiento, chopped - 1 oz
- can sliced mushrooms, drained reserve 1/4 c - 1 oz
- Toast Cups:8 slices bread
How to make chicken a la king:
Toast Cups:8 slices bread margarine In a large skillet, cook and stir mushrooms and green pepper in butter for 5 minutes. Blend in flour, salt and pepper. Cook over low heat, stirring until mixture is bubbly. Remove from heat. Stir in cream, broth and reserved mushroom liquid. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly. Boil and stir 1 minute. Stir in chicken and pimiento; heat through. Serve hot in Toast Cups.Toast Cups: Heat oven to 375°. Trim crusts from thinly sliced fresh bread; spread with soft butter or margarine. Press buttered side down into muffin cups. Bake for 12 minutes, or until lightly toasted. Serves 8.
