Ingredients/Components

  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • milk - 1 Tbsp
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • flour - 1 c
  • brown sugar - 1/2 c
  • soda - 1/2 tsp
  • baking powder - 1/2 tsp
  • egg - 1 item
  • shortening - 1/2 c
  • rolled oats - 1 c
  • white sugar - 1/2 c

How to make chewy oatmeal cookies:

Cream shortening. Add sugar and blend. Mix in egg. Add vanilla, milk, baking powder, soda and salt. Blend well. Stir in flour and oats. Drop by teaspoon on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350° for 12 minutes.
