Cherry winks

Ingredients/Components

• sugar - 1 c
• eggs - 2 item
• vanilla - 1 tsp
• milk - 2 Tbsp
• butter or margarine - 3/4 c
• salt - 1/2 tsp
• chopped nuts - 1 c
• flour
• chopped dates - 1 c
• baking powder - 2 tsp
• chopped maraschino cherries - 1/3 c
• maraschino cherries, cut in quarters - 15 item
• corn flakes, crushed to make 1 1/3 c

How to make cherry winks:

Mix together flour, baking powder and salt. In second bowl, beat margarine and sugar. Add eggs, milk and vanilla. Beat well. Stir in flour mixture, mixing well. Stir in nuts and chopped cherries. Shape tablespoons of dough into balls and roll in crushed corn flakes. Place on greased cookie sheets and top with cherry quarters. Bake at 350° for 10 to 14 minutes.
