Cheese and broccoli soup

- cold water - 1/2 c
- all-purpose flour - 1/2 c
- garlic powder - 1/2 tsp
- pepper - 2 tsp
- medium onion, chopped - 1 item
- loaf process cheese spread, cubed - 1 (8
- half and half may substitute low-fat canned milk - 1 c
How to make cheese and broccoli soup:
Bring 6 cups of water to a boil in a 3-quart Dutch oven. Add broccoli and onion. Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, 10 minutes. Add cheese and seasonings, stirring until cheese melts. Stir in milk, half and half and butter. Cook over low heat until thoroughly heated.Combine flour and cold water, stirring until smooth. Gradually add to broccoli mixture, stirring over medium heat until thickened. Makes 6 to 8 servings.
