  • milk - 2 c
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • flour - 1/4 c
  • water - 2 c
  • pepper - 1/4 tsp
  • chopped onion - 1/4 c
  • grated Cheddar cheese - 2 c
  • diced celery - 1/2 c
  • diced carrots - 1/2 c
  • diced potatoes - 2 c
  • cubed ham - 1 c
  • Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, make White Sauce

How to make cheddar chowder:

Combine the first 7 ingredients; boil for 10 to 12 minutes. Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, make White Sauce.White Sauce:1/4 c. butter1/4 c. flour2 c. milk2 c. grated Cheddar cheese Melt the butter. Add the flour; stir until smooth (about 1 minute). Slowly add the milk; cook until thickened. Add the grated cheese; stir until melted. Add white sauce and ham to vegetables that have not been drained. Heat through and enjoy. Serves 6.
