Split pea soup
Ingredients/Components
- dry split peas - 2 c
- water - 2 qt
- diced ham - 1 hock
- finely chopped celery - 1/2 c
- thin sliced carrots - 1/2 c
- finely chopped onion or 1 pkg - 1 tsp
How to make split pea soup:
Simmer in crock-pot for 5 to 8 hours, or boil gently 2 to 3 hours in a large kettle. Take meat off bone; return to soup. Add salt and pepper to taste. Can puree with hand held blender, if desired. Makes 8 servings.Recipe categories: < 4 hours, Soups & stews, 3 steps or less.
