Carrot halva
Ingredients/Components
- butter or margarine - 1/2 lb
- brown sugar - 1 lb
- water - 1/2 c
- raisins - 1/2 c
- grated coconut - 1/2 c
- raw carrots, grated - 2 lb
- can condensed milk - 14 oz
How to make carrot halva:
Mix carrots, sugar, milk and water in heavy pan. Boil until almost dry, stirring constantly. Add butter and cook again until almost dry. Add raisins and coconut. Spread in a shallow greased pan and refrigerate. Cut into squares when cold.The confection will be soft and squares should be lifted out of the pan with a spatula. Makes 10 servings.
Halva, which is a sweet dish, can be used to begin a meal, or it can be used as a dessert.
