Caramel apple oat squares
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour
- baking soda - 1/2 tsp
- firmly packed brown sugar - 1/2 c
- chopped walnuts - 1 c
- can sweetened condensed milk - 1 oz
- quick-cooking oats - 1 c
- caramels, unwrapped - 20 item
- cold margarine - 1 c
- can apple filling or topping - 1 oz
How to make caramel apple oat squares:
Preheat oven to 375°. In large bowl combine flour, oats, sugar, soda and salt; cut in margarine until crumbly. Reserving 1 1/2 cups mixture, press remainder on bottom of 13 x 9-inch pan. Bake 15 minutes. Add nuts to reserved mixture. In heavy saucepan over low heat melt caramels with milk; stirring until smooth. Spoon apple filling over prepared crust; top with caramel mixture then reserved crumb mixture. Bake 20 minutes. Cool. Serve warm with ice cream.Recipe categories: Desserts, Fruit, Apple.
