Cabbage soup
Ingredients/Components
- milk - 3 c
- butter or margarine - 2 Tbsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour - 1/4 c
- butter - 1/4 c
- paprika - 1/4 tsp
- pepper - 1/4 tsp
- chopped onion - 1 c
- chicken broth - 1 c
- shredded cabbage - 2 c
- sliced carrots - 1 c
- diced potatoes - 1 c
- shredded Cheddar cheese 8 oz - 2 c
- frozen lima beans, cooked and drained - 10 oz
How to make cabbage soup:
Saute onion and butter until tender. Add cabbage, lima beans, carrots, potatoes, broth and salt. Cover and bring to boil. Simmer until vegetables are tender. Melt 1/4 cup butter or margarine in 4 quart kettle. Blend flour, pepper and paprika. Stir in milk and heat to boiling while stirring. Boil and stir for 1 minute. Remove from heat, stir in cheese until melted. Add vegetables with their liquid to cheese soup base. Heat to serve.Recipe categories: American, Vegetables, Soups & stews.
