Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 2 Tbsp
  • sour cream - 1 item
  • salt - 1 Tbsp
  • water - 3 qt
  • shredded carrots - 2 c
  • lemon juice - 4 Tbsp
  • pepper - 1/2 tsp
  • chopped onion - 2 c
  • chopped celery - 2 c
  • shredded cabbage - 8 c
  • chicken wings - 1/2 lb
  • can tomatoes - 1 oz
  • can sauerkraut, rinsed and drained - 1 lb
  • beef short ribs - 2 lb

How to make cabbage soup:

Simmer beef ribs, chicken wings and water for 3 hours. Remove meat from bones. Discard bones. Refrigerate meat and broth separately overnight. Skim off and discard fat the next day. Combine broth and meat. Add other ingredients and simmer for 3 hours. Serve in bowls with a dollop of sour cream.
