Ingredients/Components

  • water - 8 11
  • garlic powder - 1/2 tsp
  • chili powder - 2 Tbsp
  • can tomato sauce - 1 oz
  • can stewed tomatoes - 1 oz
  • salt and pepper to taste - 1 item
  • oregano - 1 tsp
  • can tomato paste - 1 oz
  • lean ground beef
  • medium onion, chopped - 1 item
  • green pepper, chopped - 1 item
  • beef bouillon cubes - 3 item
  • can kidney beans, drained and rinsed - 1 item
  • large stock celery - 1 item
  • head cabbage, coarsely shredded - 1/2 item
  • parsley if desired - 1 Tbsp

How to make cabbage patch soup:

In a large soup kettle, brown the meat, celery, onions and green pepper. Pour off the grease. Add tomato products, seasonings and drained and rinsed kidney beans.

Dissolve bouillon in boiling water and add along with coarsely shredded cabbage. Add desired amount of water. Bring to a boil and reduce to a simmer for 2 hours. Leftovers can be frozen.
