Ingredients/Components

  • chopped onion - 1 c
  • cloves garlic - 2 item
  • chopped green pepper - 1 c
  • oregano - 1 tsp
  • chili powder - 1 to
  • lean ground beef - 2 lb
  • can tomato paste - 1 oz
  • beef bouillon cubes - 3 item
  • can kidney beans, rinsed and drained - 1 oz
  • can stewed tomatoes - 1 oz
  • head red cabbage, chopped - 1/2 item
  • head white cabbage, chopped - 1/2 item
  • Cheddar cheese optional - 1 item

How to make cabbage patch soup:

Saut?© onion, garlic, green pepper, oregano, chili powder and beef together. Drain fat, if any. Then add 7 to 8 cups water, depending on desired thickness. Add remaining ingredients, except cheese. Bring mixture to a boil and simmer for 1 hour. Can top with Cheddar cheese, grated. Serve with cornbread.
