Cabbage patch soup
Ingredients/Components
- water
- cloves garlic, minced - 2 item
- salt and pepper to taste - 1 item
- oregano - 1 tsp
- can tomato paste - 1 oz
- onion, chopped - 1 c
- parsley optional - 1 Tbsp
- beef bouillon cubes - 6 item
- head cabbage, chopped - 1 item
- green pepper, chopped optional - 1 c
- lean ground beef, if not lean drain before adding spices - 2 1/2
- or more medium tomatoes, chopped - 5 item
- large cans kidney beans, rinsed and drained - 4 item
- chili powder more or less to taste - 2 Tbsp
- green onions, tops only chopped - 1 item
How to make cabbage patch soup:
Brown ground beef in a large skillet with onion, garlic and green pepper. Add tomato paste, tomatoes, chili powder, oregano, parsley and kidney beans. Salt and pepper to taste. Add in the bouillon cubes and cabbage. Slowly add desired amount of water. Bring to a boil, cover and reduce heat and simmer for one hour.Recipe categories: Soups & stews, Main dish, One Dish meal.
