Ingredients/Components

  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • flour - 3 Tbsp
  • butter - 3 Tbsp
  • evaporated milk - 3/4 c
  • grated cheese
  • dry bread crumbs
  • head cabbage - 1 item

How to make cabbage casserole:

Cook cabbage. Drain. Save water. Melt 2 tablespoons butter. Add bread crumbs. Stir and set aside.

Melt 3 tablespoons of butter. Add flour, evaporated milk, 3/4 tablespoons of water from cabbage and salt. Thicken.

Butter casserole dish. Layer 1/2 of cabbage, white sauce and cheese. Repeat. Top with bread crumbs. Bake at 350° for 20 minutes.
