Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 2 tsp
  • pkg - 1/2 lb
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • pepper - 1/4 tsp
  • cloves garlic, minced - 2 item
  • ground beef
  • olive oil - 3 Tbsp
  • minced onion - 1/2 c
  • basil leaves - 1 tsp
  • dried parsley flakes - 1 tsp
  • can tomatoes, broken up - 1 oz
  • cans tomato paste - 2 oz
  • small onion, diced - 1 item
  • red pepper flakes - 1/4 tsp
  • dried bread crumbs - 1/4 c
  • cans water
  • ground pork - 1/2 lb
  • oregano leaves - 1/2 tsp

How to make spaghetti and meatballs:

Meatballs:1 lb. ground beef1/2 lb. ground pork1/2 c. minced onion1/4 c. dried bread crumbs1 tsp. salt1 tsp. dried parsley flakes Sauce:2 (6 oz.) cans water2 tsp. sugar1 tsp. salt1 tsp. basil leaves1/4 tsp. pepper3 Tbsp. olive oil1 small onion, diced2 cloves garlic, minced1 (28 oz.) can tomatoes, broken up2 (6 oz.) cans tomato paste1/2 tsp. oregano leaves1/4 tsp. red pepper flakes Mix well the meatball ingredients and shape mixture into 1 1/2-inch meatballs. In a large heavy pan, brown meatballs; drain excess fat.

Add olive oil; cook onion and garlic until tender (do not brown). Stir in tomatoes, tomato paste, water and seasonings. Add meatballs and simmer 30 minutes. Prepare the spaghetti according to package directions. Drain. Serve sauce and meatballs over hot spaghetti. Makes 8 servings.
