Cabbage au gratin
Ingredients/Components
- milk - 1 c
- flour - 2 Tbsp
- margarine - 5 Tbsp
- cracker crumbs - 1 c
- black pepper - 1/4 tsp
- dill weed - 1 tsp
- grated sharp cheese - 1 c
- jar sliced pimentos - 1 oz
- cabbage, sliced coarsely - 2 lb
How to make cabbage au gratin:
Melt 2 tablespoons oleo in skillet. Add crackers and dill weed. Saute until lightly brown. Set aside. Boil cabbage in 1 inch water until tender (about 10 minutes). Drain well. Put in 8 x 8 x 2-inch baking dish.In saucepan, melt 3 tablespoon oleo; blend in flour. Slowly stir in milk. Cook until thick; add pepper, pimentos and cheese. Stir until melted. Pour over cabbage. Stir lightly. Sprinkle cracker crumbs on top. Bake at 350° for 20 to 25 minutes.
