Ingredients/Components
- milk - 6 c
- salt
- flour - 4 Tbsp
- cornstarch - 4 Tbsp
- margarine - 1 Tbsp
- minced onion - 1/2 c
- black pepper - 1/2 tsp
- minced green pepper - 6 Tbsp
- grated sharp cheese - 2 3
- to 15 potatoes - 12 item
How to make scalloped potatoes with cheese:
Peel and slice potatoes. Saute onion and green pepper in 1 tablespoon margarine. Place 1/2 of potatoes into a lightly greased 5-quart rectangular roaster. Prepare a white sauce by melting 1/2 cup margarine. Add flour, cornstarch, pepper and salt; stir until heated. Slowly add milk, stirring constantly until thickened. Add sauteed onion and green pepper to white sauce. Pour half the sauce over sliced potatoes. Add 1/2 of grated cheese. Repeat layers.
