- milk - 1 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- plain flour
- margarine, melted - 2 Tbsp
- bread crumbs - 2 c
- shredded Cheddar cheese - 1 c
- salt and pepper - 1 item
- shredded cabbage - 6 8
How to make cabbage au gratin:
Boil cabbage for 5 minutes in enough water to cover; drain well. Combine 2 tablespoons melted margarine, flour and salt and pepper in saucepan. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly until bubbly. Gradually add milk. Cook until smooth and thickened. Alternate layers of cabbage, cheese and white sauce in a greased 1 1/2-quart casserole. Combine crumbs and 4 tablespoons melted butter. Sprinkle over casserole. Bake at 350° for 25 minutes. Makes 4 to 6 servings.Recipe categories: Side dish, Vegetables, Gluten Free.
