Ingredients/Components
- cups flour - 2 item
- baking powder - 1 tsp
- cup unsalted butter, softened - 2/3 item
- cup sugar - 1/2 item
- salt - 1 tsp
- egg - 1 item
- milk - 1 Tbsp
- vanilla - 1 tsp
How to make butter cookies:
Sift the flour, baking powder, and salt together into a bowl. Set aside.Combine butter and sugar in a bowl. Using an electric mixer, beat at medium speed until creamy, about 3 minutes. Add egg, milk and vanilla and beat one minute more. Reduce speed to low and add flour mixture, beating until smooth. Turn off the mixture. Shape the dough into a ball. Wrap in plastic and chill at least 1 hour or overnight.
Roll out butter cookie dough to 1/8-inch thickness on a floured surface. Cut out with assorted cookie cutters.
Place cookies on a greased or parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake at 375°F for 7-9 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool on a wire rack. Decorate with confectioners' sugar, icing, or cake decorations.
