Ingredients/Components
- egg - 1 item
- tsp salt - 1/4 item
- cup butter - 1/2 item
- cup sugar - 1 item
- tsp vanilla - 1 item
- 1/2 cups sifted flour - 1 item
- 3/4 tsp baking powder - 1 item
How to make butter cookies:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Line cookie sheets with foil.Cream butter and sugar together well. Add egg and beat until light. Add vanilla. Sift flour, baking powder and salt together and stir into the batter. Work all ingredients together to form a smooth dough of rolling consistency. Chill in refrigerator for at least 1 hour. Roll out to about 1/8 inch on a floured surface. Cut into shapes with cookie cutters and bake at 375 degrees for about 8 minutes. Makes about 2 1/2 dozen cookies.
