Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- salt - 1/2 c
- celery seed - 2 Tbsp
- large cucumbers - 25 item
- onions, sliced - 12 item
- mustard seed - 2 Tbsp
- ginger root - 2 Tbsp
How to make bread and butter pickles:
Place cucumbers in cold water until crisp. Wipe dry and slice. Add sliced onions and salt. Let stand 1 hour; do not drain. Add 1 quart vinegar and a little water. Boil sugar, mustard seed, ginger root and celery seed for 5 minutes. While hot, fill jars and seal.Recipe categories: American, Condiments, etc., Vegetables.
